Frequently asked questions from parents
From what age do you accept children?
From 3 months until they start kindergarten. The little ones begin in the Räupli group (3 to 24 months) and then move on, carefully accompanied, to the Schmätterlinge. We welcome children regardless of where they live, their nationality or their faith.
How does the settling-in process work?
Gently and without pressure, following the Berlin model: usually around 8 days over two weeks, accompanied by a parent and a dedicated key person. Beforehand, we take about an hour for a detailed intake meeting. During this time you can check in on how your child is doing at any moment via the famly app. You will find the full process including a checklist on the “Settling in” page.
What do the children eat?
We prepare the morning and afternoon snacks ourselves, healthy and varied, following the Purzelbaum guidelines. Lunch is delivered by “Menu and More”, who also supply many schools and after-school care centres in Zürich. We cook baby purées fresh from organic vegetables and fruit. We discuss allergies and intolerances individually with you.
What does a place cost?
The daily flat rate is CHF 155 per day, and it really covers everything: meals, nappies, hygiene supplies and excursions. We have a contract with the City of Zürich and offer subsidised places. You will find all the details, including the one-time costs, on the “Offer & prices” page.
When is the daycare closed?
We close for 4 weeks a year: two weeks in summer (before the start of the school year) and two weeks over Christmas/New Year. On top of that come the usual Zürich public holidays; on the Mondays of Sechseläuten and Knabenschiessen we close at 12 noon, after lunch. All dates are listed on the “Annual programme” page, also as a calendar download.
What happens if my child is ill?
Sick children need to rest at home. Just let us know about the absence via the famly app. If your child falls ill at the daycare, we will call you right away. The whole team is trained in first aid, and with our daycare doctor in Wollishofen we are well prepared for emergencies too.
